EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE JOSEPH

DALTI, JR.

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this House of Representatives has learned of the

2

passing of Joseph Dalti, Jr., a former member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives, the

3

devoted husband of the late Joanne Dalti, and the beloved father of Thomas Dalti, John Dalti, and

4

the late Donna Gallant. He was also the very proud grandfather of six grandchildren, Joey

5

Gallant, Jill Brady, Ashley and Chelsea Dalti, Ross and John Dalti, III, and two great

6

grandchildren, Ava and Alex Brady; and

7

     WHEREAS, Born in Woonsocket, Mr. Dalti was the son of the late Joseph and Amelia

8

Dalti, Sr., and the brother of Frank Dalti, Ronald Dalti, Angelina Dagesse, Antoinette Hetu, and

9

the late James Dalti, Grace Cullerton, and Mary Sutcliffe. He was a graduate of Woonsocket High

10

School, and had earned his degree from the Rhode Island College of Pharmacy at the University

11

of Rhode Island; and

12

     WHEREAS, A well-respected businessman and member of the community, Mr. Dalti

13

had worked as a pharmacist and was one of the owners of the former Park Square Pharmacy and

14

Park Square Medical Center for 49 years prior to his retirement in 1995. He was also the

15

founder of Town & Country Liquor Store, which he had owned with his two sons; and

16

     WHEREAS, In November of 1970, the Honorable Joseph Dalti was elected to the Rhode

17

Island House of Representatives. He served his constituents in District 61 in the Town of North

18

Smithfield from January of 1971 through January of 1973; and

19

     WHEREAS, Mr. Dalti was also a member of the Board of Directors for Fogarty Hospital,

had served on the board that wrote the North Smithfield Town Charter, and was the North

2

Smithfield Safety Director. In his leisure time, Mr. Dalti enjoyed hunting and was a lifetime

3

member of the Sayles Hill Rod & Gun Club; and

4

     WHEREAS, The Honorable Joseph Dalti was a devoted family man, a successful

5

businessman and a consummate gentleman. He enriched the lives of all who knew him and he

6

will be dearly missed; now, therefore be it

7

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

8

Providence Plantations hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of the Honorable

9

Joseph Dalti; and be it further

10

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

11

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Thomas Dalti and Family.
