H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

RECOGNIZING AND HONORING ANGELA PIERRE-LOUIS ON BEING THE FIRST MISS

BLACK RHODE ISLAND TALENTED TEEN USA 2016

     WHEREAS, In August of 2016, Angela Pierre-Louis will be the first Miss Black Rhode

2

Island Talented Teen to compete against accomplished young women from across the country in

3

the 2016 Miss Black Talented Teen USA competition; and

4

     WHEREAS, Sponsored by The Miss Black USA Pageant and Scholarship Foundation,

5

the competition is a "national campaign to promote self-esteem in African American girls" and

6

endeavors to "redefine the role of Black women in today’s society"; and

7

     WHEREAS, Angela is a beautiful 16 year old Haitian-American young lady, and a

8

shining star of the Y2K millennial generation. Born in Providence, she is an honor roll student at

9

St. Mary's Academy Bayview, who in her spare time, enjoys volunteer work at her local church;

10

and

11

     WHEREAS, In addition, Angela participates in school clubs that aim to enhance the lives

12

of others within her community. She is also a candidate for her black belt in tae kwon do, is a

13

member of the SWAT team (special winning attitude team) at Mastery Martial Arts in East

14

Greenwich, and generously provides guidance and assists fellow students who are learning their

15

forms; and

16

     WHEREAS, With the optimism of a pure heart and the talent to see her dreams come to

17

fruition, Angela aspires to become the #1 Dermatologist in the world. Her noble hope is to "help

18

others feel beautiful in their own skin!"; now, therefore be it

19

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby recognizes and honors Angela Pierre-Louis on being the first Miss

2

Black Rhode Island Talented Teen to represent this state in the 2016 Miss Black Talented Teen

3

USA competition. We furthermore wish her much success in the upcoming Pageant and every

4

happiness life has to offer; and be it further

5

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

6

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Angela Pierre-Louis.
