RELATING TO PUBLIC UTILITIES AND CARRIERS -- PUBLIC TRANSIT AUTHORITY | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 39-18 of the General Laws entitled "Rhode Island Public Transit |
2 | Authority" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 39-18-25. Create parity with MBTA commuter passes. – The authority shall consult |
4 | with the Massachusetts Bay transit authority on the feasibility of allowing commuter rail passes to |
5 | be used on all Rhode Island public transit authority buses. Such rail passes shall serve as dual |
6 | Rhode Island public transit authority passes and Massachusetts Bay transit authority passes, if |
7 | possible. Such consultation shall also include proposed methods to apportion and share the costs |
8 | of such passes between the two (2) authorities. |
9 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
