H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING THE ALAN SHAWN FEINSTEIN MIDDLE SCHOOL OF

COVENTRY GIRLS' SOFTBALL TEAM ON WINNING THE RHODE ISLAND

PRINCIPALS' COMMITTEE ON ATHLETICS MIDDLE SCHOOL STATE SOFTBALL

CHAMPIONSHIP

     WHEREAS, The Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School of Coventry Softball Team

compiled an outstanding 16 and 1 regular season record, won the Girls 6-7-8 Central Division,

and repeated as state champions by winning the 2015 Rhode Island Principals' Committee on

Athletics Middle School State Softball Championship; and

     WHEREAS, In the state finals, played at Rhode Island College against Southern Division

Champion Chariho, Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School of Coventry thoroughly dominated

their opposition in the championship game, cruising to a 13-2 victory. They were led by the

stellar pitching provided by Diana Petrarca, who allowed only four hits and two earned runs, and

the offense provided by leadoff hitter Jordan Dwyer, who hit two doubles, knocked in four runs,

and scored two runs; and

     WHEREAS, Winning a state championship requires that every member of a team give

their all and put aside individual desires and goals in favor of team needs and aspirations. The

Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School of Coventry Girls' Softball Team had these qualities in

abundance and also benefitted from the superb coaching provided by Head Coach Anthony Ferro;

now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby congratulates the Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School Girls'

Softball Team on winning the 2015 Rhode Island Principals' Committee on Athletics Middle

School State Softball Championship; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Anthony Ferro, Head Coach, Alan Shawn

Feinstein Middle School Girls' Softball Team.
