H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING JODY SULLIVAN ON HER RETIREMENT FROM THE NEWPORT

COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

     WHEREAS, Jody Sullivan earned a Master's degree in Management from Salve Regina

2

University in 2003, and has owned and operated several successful small businesses. She began

3

her distinguished service with the Newport County Chamber of Commerce in 1994, and her

4

tireless work ethic, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities immediately drew the

5

attention of her colleagues and superiors; and

6

     WHEREAS, Ms. Sullivan was promoted to the position of Deputy Director in 2004. She

7

was appointed to the position of Interim Director in 2009, and she was named the Executive

8

Director in 2010. Under her direction and leadership as Executive Director, the Newport

9

Chamber of Commerce developed numerous successful initiatives and programs including their

10

"Buy Local" campaign, their member-to-member discount and gift certificate programs, and their

11

corporate sponsorship program; and

12

     WHEREAS, Jody Sullivan's numerous contributions to the Newport Chamber of

13

Commerce and the entire East Bay Community will be sorely missed. In the words of Scott

14

Humphrey, Chairman of the Board, Newport Chamber of Commerce, Jody Sullivan "has been a

15

tremendous leader and asset to the organization," and she has lived the Chamber's motto, "All

16

Chamber All The Time," every day since becoming the Executive Director in 2010; now,

17

therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

19

Providence Plantations hereby congratulates Jody Sullivan on her retirement from the Newport

County Chamber of Commerce after more than twenty years of distinguished service. We wish

2

her continued success in all future endeavors; and be it further

3

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

4

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Jody Sullivan.
