THE TOWN OF WEST WARWICK FOR 101 YEARS

Introduced By: Representative Patricia A. Serpa

     Date Introduced: May 27, 2015

Referred To: House read and passed

1

WHEREAS, Julia Pankowicz was born on September 2, 1913, in the Town of West

2

Warwick, the daughter of the late Peter and Mandalena Pankowicz. She was one of eleven

3

children and is the last surviving sibling. She is a lifelong resident of West Warwick, growing up

4

on Pulaski Street before moving to Cowesett Avenue at the age of eleven; and

5

WHEREAS, As a young girl, Julia had to leave school at the age of thirteen to work in

6

the Warwick Mill and help support her family. She worked at the mill for twenty years weaving

7

material used for boat sails until she met her husband of sixty years, Anthony Kiselica. Together

8

they raised two children, Bernadine Terilli and Joseph Kiselica, and worked tirelessly to provide a

9

better life for their kids. Mrs. Kiselica took care of the home and her family, providing them with

10

a loving and nurturing safe-haven from the worries of the world; and

11

WHEREAS; Today, Mrs. Kiselica is the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren and

12

continues to lovingly dote on her two children. She still lives in her home and still loves her tea,

13

her backyard swing and her chicken soup, and she, remarkably, is still able to take care of herself,

14

needing only a minimal amount of help. She is a woman of strong faith who still remains a

15

member of the church she attended as a child. She has lived an enriching life full of abundant

16

blessings from the Lord; now, therefore be it

17

RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

18

Providence Plantations hereby honors and congratulates Julia Kiselica on being a resident of the

19

Town of West Warwick for 101 years; and be it further

1

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

2

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Julia Kiselica.
