H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING MATTHEW L. DEWOLF, BOY SCOUT TROOP 6,

BRISTOL, RHODE ISLAND, ON ACHIEVING SCOUTINGS MOST DISTINGUISHED

HONOR, THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT

     WHEREAS, Scouting is a movement that challenges, inspires, and guides young men

toward high achievements and values as expressed in the Scout oath, law, motto, and slogan; and

     WHEREAS, Earning an Eagle Scout Badge, the pinnacle of achievement with the Boy

Scouts of America, is an exceptional distinction achieved by fewer than seven percent of all the

young men who enter scouting; and

     WHEREAS, Matthew L. deWolf of Troop 6, Bristol, Rhode Island, is a remarkable

young man worthy of this prestigious achievement and his accomplishments are truly deserving

of our recognition. In his distinguished scouting career, Matthew has proven to be a self-confident

young man who has demonstrated wide-ranging scouting skills and has proven to be a true leader;

and

     WHEREAS, As the highlight of Matthew's scouting years, he completed an Eagle

Service Project that entailed developing a trail in Bristol's open space for the Bristol Conservation

Commission's network of trails. His project demonstrated his commitment to preserving the

environment and natural settings within the Town of Bristol; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby honors Matthew L. deWolf for all he has done to achieve the rank

of Eagle Scout. We furthermore extend our deepest appreciation for his untiring service to his

community and for setting a high standard of commitment and dedication by which the youth of

this great state may follow; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Matthew L. deWolf.
