H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES TO THE HAGAN FAMILY ON THE PASSING OF

ROBERT M. HAGAN

     WHEREAS, Robert M. Hagan passed away peacefully at his beach house on Monday,

2

April 20, 2015, surrounded by his loving family; and

3

     WHEREAS, Mr. Hagan was born in Cranston, the son of Lewis and Margaret Hagan. He

4

served our nation proudly and with honor and valor during World War II as a member of the

5

United States Army 8th Armored Division, the "Thundering Herd." He was awarded the Purple

6

Heart for being wounded while in service to our nation; and

7

     WHEREAS, Mr. Hagan graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1949. He co-

8

owned and worked at Bald Hill Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, and Kia from 1950 until two weeks prior

9

to his death. He loved his beach house, swimming in the ocean, traveling, playing cards, the Red

10

Sox, and spending time with his family and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and

11

enjoyed living life to the fullest; and

12

     WHEREAS, Mr. Hagan was the loving husband of his wife of sixty years, the late Anna

13

Hagan. He was the devoted father of Ann Hagan Webb and her husband, Richard, Carol Hagan

14

McEntee and her husband, Michael, James Hagan, and his wife, Judy, and Amy Hagan, and her

15

husband, Charles Julian. He was also the proud grandfather of Meghan, Mickey and Rory

16

McEntee, Jessica Webb Beckerman, and her husband, Marty, Caroline and Nate Webb, and Harry

17

Hagan; now, therefore be it

18

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

19

Providence Plantations hereby expresses its condolences to the Hagan Family on the passing of

Robert M. Hagan; and be it further

2

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

3

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the Honorable Carol Hagan McEntee and

4

Family.
