REINSTATING AND EXTENDING THE COMMISSION LIFE AND AMENDING THE

MEMBERSHIP OF THE SPECIAL LEGISLATIVE COMMISSION TO ASSESS AND MAKE

RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OF CHILDREN WITH

DYSLEXIA AND/OR READING DISABILITIES

     RESOLVED, That the special legislative commission created by resolution No. 220

2

passed by the House at its January session, A.D. 2014, and approved April 29, 2014, entitled,

3

"House Resolution Creating a Special Legislative Commission to Assess and Make

4

Recommendations on the Educational Needs of Children with Dyslexia and/or Reading

5

Disabilities," is hereby reinstated and the same members are hereby reappointed, and it is

6

authorized to continue its study and make a report to the House of Representatives on or before

7

February 29, 2016, and said commission shall expire on May 27, 2016; and be it further

8

     RESOLVED, That the time for reporting authorized by resolution No. 220 passed by the

9

House of Representatives at its January session, A.D. 2014, and approved April 29, 2014, be and

10

the same is hereby rescinded; and be it further

11

     RESOLVED, That the composition of said special legislative commission is hereby

12

amended by increasing the membership to nine (9) members, by adding one new member who

13

shall be a licensed psychologist, and by adding a second new member, both of whom shall be

14

appointed by the Speaker of the House.

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

OF

H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

REINSTATING AND EXTENDING THE COMMISSION LIFE AND AMENDING THE

MEMBERSHIP OF THE SPECIAL LEGISLATIVE COMMISSION TO ASSESS AND MAKE

RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OF CHILDREN WITH

DYSLEXIA AND/OR READING DISABILITIES

     This resolution would increase the membership of said commission with the addition of

2

two (2) new members, one of whom would be a licensed psychologist, and both of whom would

3

be appointed by the speaker of the house. The act would also reinstate and extend the reporting

4

and expiration dates of the special legislative commission to assess and make recommendations

5

on the educational needs of children with dyslexia and/or reading disabilities from January 30,

6

2015, to February 29, 2016, and said commission would expire on May 27, 2016.
