	H O U S E R E S O L U T I O N
	EXPRESSING SINCERE CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF JOSE PACHECO

1	WHEREAS, It is with utmost sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Jose
2	Pacheco, the beloved husband of Gilberta Pacheco, devoted father of one daughter, Mary Rose
3	Pacheco, one son, Joseph Pacheco and his wife, Kathy, and the proud grandfather of two
4	grandsons, Joseph M. Pacheco, Jr., and Devin C. Pacheco; and
5	WHEREAS, Originally from Lomba do Carro Povoacao, Sao Miguel, Azores, Mr.
6	Pacheco was a son of the late Jose Pacheco and Maria Rosa Linhares. He was the brother of the
7	late Manuel Pacheco Linhares, Dionisio Pacheco and Lucinda Mota; and
8	WHEREAS, During his youth in Lomba do Carro Povoacao, Mr. Pacheco had been
9	employed as a taxi driver and was a star volleyball player, who was well known as "Canhoto" by
10	his family, friends, and fans; and
11	WHEREAS, After emigrating from the Azores, Mr. Pacheco worked at Rhode Island
12	Hospital in the housekeeping department until his retirement; and
13	WHEREAS, Mr. Pacheco enjoyed traditional music from his native country and loved to
14	sing and listen to "O imprevisto" Portuguese singing; and
15	WHEREAS, Jose Pacheco was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enriched
16	the lives of those who knew and loved him and he will be dearly missed; now, therefore be it
17	RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and
18	Providence Plantations hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Jose Pacheco;
19	and be it further
20	RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

1	transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Gilberta Pacheco and Family.
