RELATING TO HUMAN SERVICES - MEDICAL ASSISTANCE FRAUD | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 40-8.2 of the General Laws entitled "Medical Assistance Fraud" is |
2 | hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 40-8.2-24. Payment to whistleblowers. -- Ten percent (10%) of any restitution paid to |
4 | the state, excluding that portion which are federal funds, and of all fines levied for medical |
5 | assistance fraud and/or fraudulent receipt of medical assistance money shall be due to any |
6 | whistleblower who provides information resulting in the fine. The department of human services |
7 | shall promulgate rules and regulations for implementation of the whistleblower program. |
8 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
