WELCOMING THE 54TH RESERVE MILITARY POLICE IRISH DEFENSE FORCE TO THE

STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, The Reserve Defense Forces, in Irish known as the Óglaigh Cúltaca, is the

title given to the reserve components of the Irish Defense Forces; and

     WHEREAS, The Irish Reserve Defense Force consists of eight Army Reserve Corps,

1-4

with 9,292 members currently serving in the corps; and

1-5

     WHEREAS, Twenty-one distinguished soldiers of the 54th Reserve Military Police Irish

1-6

Defense Force have graciously accepted an invitation to march, in a civilian capacity, in the City

1-7

of Providence's St. Patrick's Day Parade; and

1-8

     WHEREAS, While visiting, the reservists will conduct various training and equipment

1-9

presentations, as well as participate in sightseeing tours to Rhode Island's State House and

1-10

locations in Boston and New York; now, therefore be it

1-11

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations is

1-12

hereby honored to receive and warmly welcome members of the 54th Reserve Military Police

1-13

Irish Defense Force to our state; and be it further

1-14

     RESOLVED, That this Senate hereby recognizes and commends the noble efforts of

1-15

these members of the military and their myriad contributions to the betterment of their country

1-16

and the world community.
