RELATING TO BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONS - LAUNDRIES

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 5-16 of the General Laws entitled "Laundries" is hereby amended

by adding thereto the following section:

     5-16-4.1. Posting of dry cleaning prices - Authority to require. -- Licensing authorities

may, at their discretion, require license holders to either:

     (1) Post a list containing the retail price, including taxes, charged for each type of

garment cleaned, dry cleaned, or accepted for cleaning by such business, except for garments

1-7

requiring special handling or care. Any such price list shall be displayed in a prominent location

1-8

on the premises of such business for viewing by customers; or

1-9

     (2) Furnish on the premises of such business a printed leaflet or flyer containing the price

1-10

information set forth in subdivision (1) of this section. Any such leaflet or flyer shall be readily

1-11

available to customers in a conspicuous location at each service counter.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
