RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING MICHAEL A. CAPALBO ON ACHIEVING

SCOUTING'S MOST DISTINGUISHED HONOR, THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT

     WHEREAS, Not every boy, nor even every Scout, qualifies for the high rank of Eagle.

Strenuous physical hurdles, high mental requirements, strong personal character, indomitable

1-3

spirit, and a commitment to community service are a rare combination of qualities and

1-4

achievements to find in one person. Michael A. Capalbo is just such an extraordinary young man

1-5

and his accomplishments are truly worthy and deserving of our recognition and praise; and

1-6

     WHEREAS, Michael is a member of Troop 1, Diamond Hill, Cumberland. With

1-7

perseverance and determination, he has attained the highest rank in scouting, the Eagle, by

1-8

meeting all the extensive requirements; and

1-9

     WHEREAS, During his years in scouting, Michael has demonstrated a wide-range of

1-10

abilities, making him a worthy leader. Michael also exhibited high self-confidence and effective

1-11

skills; and

1-12

     WHEREAS, Learning important lifelong skills and values, Michael earned a myriad of

1-13

merit badges, and as the pinnacle of his scouting years, he completed the final step toward

1-14

obtaining the rank of Eagle by planning and carrying out an extensive Eagle service project.

Michael mapped out the walking trails at the Monastery in Cumberland using global positioning

1-16

information and installed a board to display the trail map; and

1-17

     WHEREAS, Attaining the rank of Eagle requires considerable perseverance and is

1-18

considered to be the pinnacle of achievement with the Boy Scouts of America. It is an exceptional

1-19

distinction achieved by fewer than five percent of all the young men who enter scouting; and

2-20

     WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth, and to

2-21

celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. Michael A. Capalbo is a remarkable young

2-22

man who exemplifies everything an Eagle Scout should be, and all that we hope our children will

2-23

grow to be; now, therefore be it

2-24

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

2-25

Providence Plantations hereby honor Michael A. Capalbo for his service to the community and

2-26

for setting a high standard of commitment and dedication by which youth of this great state may

2-27

follow. We congratulate him for all he has done to attain the rank of Eagle, and extend our very

2-28

best wishes for good health and happiness in the months and years ahead; and be it further

2-29

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

2-30

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Michael A. Capalbo.
