CONGRATULATING THE ELEANOR SLATER HOSPITAL/ZAMBARANO UNIT ON THE | |

RECOGNITION OF ZAMBARANO DAY | |

WHEREAS, Since 1905, the Eleanor Slater Hospital/Zambarano Unit 119 has been |
|

serving the citizens of the State of Rhode Island. It was previously called the Dr. U.E. Zambarano |
|
1-3 |
Hospital in tribute to its superintendent. Since its inception, the Zambarano Hospital has |
|
1-4 |
furnished crucial health care for many Rhode Islanders; and |
|
1-5 |
WHEREAS, In recent years, this excellent facility also began providing outstanding |
|
1-6 |
health care services to those Rhode Islanders who are in the greatest need, including geriatric |
|
1-7 |
patients, patients with developmental disabilities, patients with Alzheimer's disease, and those |
|
1-8 |
with spinal cord injuries; and |
|
1-9 |
WHEREAS, Eleanor Slater Hospital/Zambarano Unit serves as an optimal model for all |
|
1-10 |
long-term care facilities; and |
|
1-11 |
WHEREAS, For more than thirty years the patients have been involved in an organized |
|
1-12 |
group, "Patients for Progress." The group is dedicated to promoting superior care for all |
|
1-13 |
individuals at our state hospitals; and |
|
1-14 |
WHEREAS, The staff at Zambarano works tirelessly to ensure a quality existence for all |
|
1-15 |
patients, and also works to convey the creditable and commendable work that goes on each and |
|
1-16 |
every day at the hospital; now, therefore be it |
|
1-17 |
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
|
1-18 |
Providence Plantations hereby extends its sincere congratulations to the staff of the Eleanor Slater |
|
1-19 |
Hospital/Zambarano Unit on Zambarano Day and expresses its deep appreciation for the |
|
1-20 |
continuation of their laudable efforts on behalf of all long-term care patients; and be it further |
|
2-1 |
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives hereby declares its continuing support |
|
2-2 |
to assure the Eleanor Slater Hospital/Zambarano Unit remains an exemplary long-term health |
|
2-3 |
care facility for the benefit of all Rhode Islanders; and be it further |
|
2-4 |
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
2-5 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the staff of the Eleanor Slater |
|
2-6 |
Hospital/Zambarano Unit. |
