A N A C T

RELATING TO MILITARY AFFAIRS AND DEFENSE -- BURIAL OF VETERANS

     

     

     Introduced By: Representatives McLaughlin, MacBeth, Hull, Bennett, and Johnston

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 30-25-2 of the General Laws in Chapter 30-25 entitled "Burial of

Veterans" is hereby amended to read as follows:

     30-25-2. Appropriations for firing squads. -- The general assembly shall annually

1-4

appropriate such a sum as it may deem necessary, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise

1-5

appropriated, for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of section 30-25-1; , in an amount

1-6

sufficient to provide a firing squad of five (5) members, and a bugler for each funeral, and the

1-7

state controller is hereby authorized and directed to draw orders upon the general treasurer for the

1-8

payment of such sums as may from time to time be required upon the receipt by the state

1-9

controller of proper vouchers, approved by the adjutant general.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

     This act would require an honor guard of five (5) members and a bugler for each funeral

for a veteran buried in Rhode Island.
