CONGRATULATING THE TEAM MEMBERS AND ADVISORS OF PONAGANSET HIGH

SCHOOL FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA ON WINNING RHODE ISLAND’S ANNUAL

FLORICULTURE CAREER DEVELOPMENT EVENTS

     WHEREAS, The National Future Farmers of America (FFA) is “dedicated to making a

positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership,

1-3

personal growth, and career success through agricultural education”; and

1-4

     WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1928, the FFA has encouraged millions of students to

1-5

learn more about agriculture, embracing the organization’s motto of “Learning to Do, Doing to

1-6

Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve”; and

1-7

     WHEREAS, Annually, the FFA organizes career development events in order “to

1-8

develop individual responsibilities, foster teamwork, and promote communication while

1-9

recognizing the value of ethical competition and individual achievement”; and

1-10

     WHEREAS, This year, Ponaganset High School’s FFA Chapter, consisting of members

1-11

Zachary Farnum, Lindsey Grissom, Alana Gustafson, Jennifer Kosteer, and Samantha Arpin, and

1-12

team advisors Loren Andrews and Malaree Searle, competed and won the Rhode Island Annual

1-13

Floriculture Career Development Events (CDE) and Extemporaneous Speaking CDE; and

1-14

     WHEREAS, In addition, Samantha Arpin was the winner of the Extemporaneous

1-15

Speaking CDE; and

1-16

     WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth and to

1-17

celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. The members of Ponaganset High School’s

1-18

FFA Chapter are truly remarkable individuals who exemplify everything that young people can

1-19

achieve; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

2-2

hereby congratulates Ponaganset High School’s FFA team on winning the Rhode Island Annual

2-3

Floriculture Career Development Events. We furthermore wish them continued success at the

2-4

National contests in Indianapolis in October; and be it further

2-5

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

2-6

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Zachary Farnum, Lindsey Grissom, Alana

2-7

Gustafson, Jennifer Kosteer, and Samantha Arpin, and team advisors Loren Andrews and

2-8

Malaree Searle.
