S E N A T E R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING SINCERE CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF NANCY M. SCROGEY

     WHEREAS, It is with the utmost sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of

1-2

Nancy M. (Lolicata) Scrogey, a woman whose greatest joy was found in the simple pleasure of

1-3

spending time with her dear family. Born eight-nine years ago to the late Manuel and Georgianna

1-4

(DeMello) Lolicata, Nancy was the wife of the late Joseph E. Scrogey and was a life-long

1-5

resident of Smithfield; and

1-6

     WHEREAS, Our thoughts and hearts hold empathy and sorrow for her family. We grieve

1-7

with her daughter, Joanne Driscoll and her husband, John. Nancy was the proud and doting

1-8

grandmother of Joseph Driscoll and his wife, Sara, and Kaitlyn Driscoll; and

1-9

     WHEREAS, In addition to her husband and parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her

1-10

two brothers, Anthony and Salvatore, and by her sister, Florence Lolicata; and

1-11

     WHEREAS, Before retiring, Nancy worked for the A. T. Cross Co., as well as for Mine

1-12

Safety Appliances; and

1-13

     WHEREAS, Even though we are diminished by this loss and mourn the passing of

1-14

Nancy, so must we celebrate the spirit, generosity, and courage with which she lived every day of

1-15

her life; and

1-16

     WHEREAS, Our greatest tribute to Nancy would be to emulate the attributes which made

1-17

her an outstanding wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Nancy M. Scrogey will live on for

1-18

many years to come in the memories of everyone fortunate enough to have been touched by the

1-19

quality of this remarkable woman; now, therefore be it

1-20

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

1-21

hereby expresses our deepest sympathy to the family of Nancy M. Scrogey at this time of

2-1

tremendous loss and grief. She will be truly missed; and be it further

2-2

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

2-3

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to her daughter, Mrs. Joanne Driscoll.
