S E N A T E R E S O L U T I O N

RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING MATTHEW F. FUSCO UPON ACHIEVING

SCOUTING'S MOST DISTINGUISHED HONOR, THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT

     WHEREAS, Earning an Eagle Scout Badge is the pinnacle of achievement within the

1-2

Boy Scouts of America. It is an exceptional distinction achieved by fewer than five percent of all

1-3

the young men who enter scouting; and

1-4

     WHEREAS, Matthew F. Fusco is a remarkable young man worthy of this prestigious

1-5

achievement and his accomplishments are truly deserving of our recognition; and

1-6

     WHEREAS, Learning important lifelong skills and values, Matthew earned thirty-nine

1-7

merit badges and has served in leadership positions, including Senior Patrol Leader, Chaplain

1-8

Aide, and Indian Chief, within Troop 39, Summit, Rhode Island, as well as exhibited the highest

1-9

scout spirit; and

1-10

     WHEREAS, As the highlight of his scouting years and to complete the final step toward

1-11

obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout, Matthew F. Fusco planned and carried out an extensive Eagle

1-12

Scout service project. Matthew organized and supervised his fellow scouts in the clean up of the

1-13

W. Alton Jones Campus of the University of Rhode Island, a facility which provides

1-14

environmental education to school-age children. Matthew and fellow scouts devoted countless

1-15

hours and an amazing amount of energy carrying out his project for the benefit of the community

1-16

and visitors; and

1-17

     WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth and to

1-18

celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. Matthew F. Fusco exemplifies everything

1-19

an Eagle Scout should be and all that we hope our children will grow to be; now, therefore be it

2-20

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

2-21

hereby honors Matthew F. Fusco for all he has done to attain the rank of Eagle within the Boy

2-22

Scouts of America. We would also like to commend Matthew’s family and friends for giving

2-23

him the background and values that will stay with him for a lifetime; and be it further

2-24

     RESOLVED, That this Senate extends our deepest appreciation to Matthew F. Fusco for

2-25

his untiring service to the community and for setting a high standard of commitment and

2-26

dedication by which youth of this great state may follow. We proffer our very best wishes for

2-27

good health and happiness in the months and years ahead; and be it further

2-28

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

2-29

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Eagle Scout Matthew F. Fusco.
