S E N A T E R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING ROBERT M. BEAGLE ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT

AS VICE PRESIDENT FOR ADVANCEMENT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, The longest serving, and one of the most forward thinking vice presidents in

1-2

the history of the University of Rhode Island, Bob has more than 30 years of experience in higher

1-3

education, among the longest tenures as a vice president in the advancement field nationally; and

1-4

     WHEREAS, Bob’s storied career at the University of Rhode Island has been a model of

1-5

enthusiastic and truly dedicated leadership in several areas that have been crucial to the

1-6

university’s progress, including the first-ever capital campaign, five subsequent major

1-7

fundraising campaigns, expansion of the alumni information system, and a university wide

1-8

branding initiative; and

1-9

     WHEREAS, Combining critical institutional knowledge with impressive relationships

1-10

with alumni and the state’s corporate and legislative leadership, Bob established the framework to

1-11

guide the University into the future, creating much of the structure that will help meet URI’s 21st

1-12

Century Transformational Goals ; and

1-13

     WHEREAS, In the wake of all the lives and hearts of the countless people he has

1-14

touched, Bob now moves on to future adventures. He will be truly missed by the faculty, students,

1-15

alumni and parents of the University of Rhode Island; now, therefore be it

1-16

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

1-17

hereby recognizes, honors, and thanks Robert M. Beagle on the occasion of his retirement after

1-18

many years of steadfast and unselfish service with the University of Rhode Island. We wish him

1-19

good health, fulfillment, and continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further

2-20

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

2-21

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Robert M. Beagle.
