EXPRESSING OUR CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF SOLANGE ANNE SULLIVAN

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Solange

1-2

Anne Sullivan, a woman who was deeply devoted to her family. Born eighty-seven years ago to

1-3

the late Joseph and Clara (Robidoux) Sauliner, Solange was the wife of the late William F.

1-4

Sullivan; and

1-5

     WHEREAS, Our thoughts and hearts hold great empathy and sorrow for her family. We

1-6

grieve with her children, Cynthia Bousquet, W. Michael and his wife, Mary C. Sullivan, Patricia

1-7

and her husband, Stanley J. Lynch, and Pamela and Timothy Gaboury, and an "adopted"

1-8

daughter, Margaret E. Camara. She was the very proud grandmother of sixteen grandchildren:

James. P. Bousquet, W. Matthew Sullivan, Peter C. Sullivan, Bridget S. Sullivan, Katherine

1-10

Lynch, Meghan Lynch Ellis, Michaela Lynch, Justin Lynch, John Lynch, Robert Lynch, Jennia

Lynch, Andrew "AJ" Lynch, Matthew Lynch, Zachary and his wife, Trisha Gaboury, Seth

1-12

Gaboury, Spencer and his wife, Sarah Gaboury, and great grandmother of Connor; and

1-13

     WHEREAS, Solange Anne Sullivan was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on May 7,

1-14

1925, and raised in Falmouth, Massachusetts, where she was a 1944 graduate of Falmouth High

1-15

School. She continued her education and graduated from Framingham State Teacher's College in

1-16

1948, where she lettered in three sports: basketball, field hockey, and softball; and

1-17

     WHEREAS, She was a teacher at St. Mary's Sacred Heart School for 22 years before

1-18

retiring in 1982. Mrs. Sullivan also found the time and energy to run Camp Farley, a 4-H summer

1-19

camp, in Mashpee for many years.

1-20

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Sullivan enjoyed knitting and woodworking and was a talented oil

1-21

painter and seamstress. She was also a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church where she was

2-1

a recipient of the Marian Medal; and

2-2

     WHEREAS, Always thinking of others, Solange provided care for her mother and father

2-3

for many years in addition to being a dedicated mother; and

2-4

     WHEREAS, A devoted wife, daughter, granddaughter, and great grandmother, Solange

2-5

will live on for many years to come in the memories of everyone fortunate enough to have been

2-6

touched by the quality of this remarkable woman; and

2-7

     WHEREAS, Even though we are diminished by this loss and mourn the passing of

2-8

Solange, so must we celebrate the spirit, generosity, and courage with which she lived every day

2-9

of her life; now, therefore be it

2-10

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

2-11

hereby expresses our deepest sympathy to the entire Sullivan family on the passing of Solange.

2-12

She enriched the lives of all who knew her and will be dearly missed; and be it further

2-13

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

2-14

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the family of Solange Anne Sullivan.
